Overview
Food allergen awareness training equips food business employees with the knowledge to identify, manage, and prevent allergen risks that can lead to serious harm or life-threatening reactions. Every year, avoidable allergen mistakes in food preparation and service cause reactions ranging from mild discomfort to anaphylaxis, and regulators in the UK, EU, and beyond require food businesses to manage these risks as part of routine food safety practice. This course exists to close the knowledge gap between good intentions and safe, consistent allergen control on the ground.
Across 13 modules, learners move from the biological basis of allergic and intolerance reactions through to practical, workplace-ready skills: recognising the 14 major allergens, preventing cross-contact during storage and preparation, responding correctly to an allergic emergency, and building allergen controls into supplier management, cleaning validation, and HACCP systems. The course also covers front-of-house communication, so kitchen and service teams can share allergen information accurately with customers and each other.
This training is built for a global audience. Whether you work in a restaurant kitchen in London, a food manufacturing site in Berlin, or a hospitality business in Singapore, the underlying science of food allergy and the operational discipline of allergen control apply in the same way. Learners finish the course able to support a safer food environment, reduce business and legal risk, and strengthen their own career profile in food safety and compliance roles.
